Eveywhere you go there's always some place which is THE place to see. In Zakynthos, where I'm spending a couple of days, that place is the Shipwreck Beach, accessible only by boat.
Usually there is a postcard picture of the place in question, and then there's reality, and the Shipwreck Beach is no exception to the rule. You see pictures of this romantic empty beach with an old ship that wrecked there a long time ago and a deep blue ocean. Then you rent a boat to actually go there... like hundreds of other tourists. Before you set foot on the beach, when you see all the boats in the bay, you already regret it. Then you spend two hours stuck with all these tourists, trying to swim without getting intoxicated by the pervasive fuel smell coming from the boats. Finally your boat comes back to rescue you from there and you swear "never again". That is, until you go somewhere else where there is also something "you can't miss".
Fortunately there are plenty of spectacular well preserved places in Zakynthos for you all alone - but I won't say which :-)
